Masterplan
At present the Museumsinsel in Berlin, a collection of museums which is part of the cultural world heritage is being renovated and restructured. The website informs the public and potential sponsors about the concept "Masterplan Museumsinsel". It is part of a comprehensive communication concept which also contains a virtual 3D model of the site and an information system in the entrance area of the Museumsinsel Berlin.
Information architecture
The observer can choose between a variety of virtual approaches to standpoints on the Museum Island. A sort of x-ray view of the whole complex offers information about the reorganization of the collections. A subterranean connection of the basements, the "Archeological Promenade" unites the buildings and their contents. The new entrance building will be the main access and will lead to the different subject areas of the promenade and the various collections. The virtual model shows you where the promenade will run. Historical footage offers the observer a time travel through the ages: From the beginnings back in the year 1830 up to the year 2012. The extensive changes that will be carried out in the next years behind the restored facades of the world famous museums become apparent.
